The beauty of an LCD's lack of refresh rate is quickly overshadowed the moment one of these appears...

Why are these suddenly an issue in recent displays? Older laptops never got them. If you recently bought an LCD monitor, did it automatically come with a dead/hot pixel or did it appear over time? Of course, you can't take them back unless you exceed some number of faulty pixels per square inch...

Strangely, I think the number I have are related to me cleaning the thing with a cloth while it was powered up or tapping on it to point out something to someone. They're almost as frustrating as a hot pixel in a digital camera.

Oh, hell, don't get me started on those...

Why are they more an issue recently? One word: China.

Or, more elaborately, cheap Chinese LCD screens made with the sort of quality control you'd expect in a late '70s Chrysler.

Early LCDs often had bad pixels, but the Japanese and Koreans seem to have gotten the problem under control. (needless to say there are no US producers of consumer-grade screens)

Way more annoying than an off pixel is one that's stuck on. I got a new cheap screen for my secondary computer, and it had a BRIGHT GREEN on-pixel stuck in the upper left quadrant. It went back.

That's why, when I win the lottery, I'm going to get a Fragbook .

Our INCLUDED Perfect Pixel Guarantee assures you of a higher quality LCD display than any other computer manufacturer- including the display manufacturers themselves! Dead or stuck pixels may be acceptable as "industry standard" for other companies, but Falcon has a higher standard for our clients.

That's not the only reason, but it sets a higher bar overall. These things are awesome.
