Wind Power

I saw the most ironic scene while riding Saturday. Somebody had a NO WIND TURBINES sign in their front yard and one of those little 6' windmills in the flowers behind it...

Apparently there is a big fight in Western NY over the big wind farms that are on the way. Billionaire politician Thomas Galisano is funding the antis. As long as they don't locate the turbines too close to residences, I can't see the complaint. Farmers can rent/sell their unproductive ridgeline property to power generators and maybe fewer Marines get killed in some awful desert somewhere.

I'm still considering doing a turbine here. I have a spot with seemingly constant wind that probably should be assessed.

Windfarms represent yet another false hope. They're nowhere near as efficient as expected and have a huge infrastructural overhead. LIke so many forms of alternative energy the downside could outweigh the upside - now, if it was ethanol and hydrogen fuel cells....

Dr Constable added: "This is the first time any big company has confirmed the worry that coping with wind will mean a lot more grid-building. It will be interesting to see how that changes the calculations."
America already has an efficient grid in place, so I assume the surge/ebb of wind is solvable.

Well, I suppose that on a still day, griff could just increase his bean intake and fart in the general direction of the windmill ...

Maybe that has something to do with the 'spot with seemingly constant wind' he referred to...
