This may be just a coincidence, but...
Remember my freaky ole lady name a cocaine Katy who embroidered on my jeans? Well after I got my picture on the cover of
Rolling Stone and the groupies swarmed in, Katy was pissed and lit out for Canada. I heard she was pregnant, then heard she
had a daughter named Laura. Friction between Katy’s paramour and Laura caused her move to England.

Laura Baverstock is a specialist hand embroiderer, textile artist and illustrator who mixes traditional stitching techniques with her contemporary design practice. She creates embellished designs and bespoke pieces with modern materials and embroidery adding texture and interest. Her use of strong shapes and silhouettes are contrasted against refined and delicate detail.

Her inspiration stems from both the natural world and structural man-made objects. She uses illustrative work and photography to investigate her subject and develop her ideas into realised embroidery pieces. Laura graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Hand Embroidery for Fashion, Interiors and Textile Art from The Royal School of Needlework.

Goldwork is a particular technique Laura favours within her own design practice, and she was awarded membership to the Worshipful Company of Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers in 2016 as a Trade Freeman.

Laura’s own commission pieces have been sold internationally, and she also has embroidery and design experience from multiple markets including couture, costume, womenswear, menswear and interiors. She has worked for clients such as Nicholas Oakwell Couture for the GREAT British Industry campaign, Alexander McQueen, HBO and Legendary Entertainment. Her costume work can be seen in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ and Josie Rourke’s upcoming release ‘Mary Queen of Scots’.

She has won every prize associated with embroidery, and a lot more that aren’t. I can’t even comprehend the time it takes to do
something like that Lion’s head (inside the eyeball), or the insects. My Grandmother would braid or hook rugs while watching
Laurence Welk but this looks like it would take ones full attention.

I wonder if she has a dungeon, or even a penthouse, stocked with elves?
