The curious case of TheDaVinciChoad

About a month ago, new user TheDaVinciChoad showed up and seemed to really like the Cellar.

Then he posted some anti-Zionist stuff in Current Events thread (it's in FYI: how news was, and is, and will be) that I thought I should address, and because he was going full retard, I went full retard too.

After a day of this, he PMed me, thankful for the Cellar:

Quote:
Just wanted to say that I appreciate the chance to debate this, with somebody who has actual knowledge of the situation. We may differ in opinions, and ideas... but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the chance to have a civil discussion about it!

Most people are too quick to anger, with too little knowledge to back it up.

Glad to see you're not one of them... just another reason I love this place!
I wrote back and pointed out that I enjoyed the debate and wanted no special treatment for being admin:
Quote:
I should also say, I put right into the FAQ:

Quote:
Also, you can hate me, it doesn't matter. (I will only respect you more for it.) My goal as a virtual community operator is to do right by the community itself. Disagree with me if you like; I'm often wrong and need to be taught a lesson. Disagreement and honesty are critical to a community's health.
He wrote back:
Quote:
So, to feel actually able to open up, and be as opinionated as I am, beyond the shell of overt shyness, is a great thing. I'll always be thankful to you, and this community, for that... you should know what a unique place you've built, and know how much people, especially people like me, appreciate it.

Plus, it's always nice to have an intellectual discussion, theoretical discussion, theological discussion, or, well, any kind of discussion, with somebody as intelligent as yourself, knowing that neither party (myself, nor you) will take offence to anything said. You're a good man, and I thank you for our continued debate!

(Doesn't mean I'll go easy on you. )
Which is exactly the kind of attitude I love.

But a day later I did not go easy on him, again... and he promptly disappeared. Not one post on the Cellar timestamped after my last reply.

What the fuck. Days of heaping tons of praise on the Cellar, so thankful to have found it, ready for a full-out debate. And then... gone.

Well I waited a month before writing this, just in case he wasn't really gone - but he is, apparently. What The Fuck?

You could always PM him and ask. I think most people leave the default setting of receiving an email notification for PMs, so he's more likely to see it.

Maybe he went off his meds, and Dr. DaVinci became Mr. JBKlyde?

Weird. I must admit though I don't exactly miss anti-semites when they disappear.

I would guess he stopped, or perhaps resumed, his medication.

I know this has been discussed before...but, unlike LJ, I am too damned lazy to look the thread up.

I think my ex or my current would log in and let you know I've carked.

Please to have a giant party thread and just remember all the things about me that made you laugh, made you mad, made you shake your head, made you run away screaming...I want to be remembered for all my facets, good and bad. But drink some beers, those who can, those who can't, tip a diet coke or a coffee.

Gawd I hope it's not today! These plans aren't making themselves, you know!

When it's my time to go, I've made arrangements for you all to be buried with me in my pyramid so the Cellar will be there for me in the afterlife ... hope you don't mind.

Perhaps TheDaVinciChoad heard about my plans and bailed.
