Eavesdropping

When you finish looking at the Cellar for the day and turn your computer off, isn't it nice to come back the next day and find all these fresh posts? See what's been said while you're gone. Check out the new threads and find out if anyone has responded directly to you.

But don't you think it's a little bit like eavesdropping sometimes?

Sometimes people say stuff on forums that they might not have said anywhere else, and sometimes it's really personal.

I sometimes feel like I'm eavesdropping.

I always go to the IOtD and images section first. I'm a peeping Tom.

online voyeurism?

I do feel a bit like an eavesdropper. I do get a vicarious pleasure reading the the things folks share with the world here, and I am a bit jealous of their liberty to do so.
I do not feel I have that same liberty for reasons having to do with my employer and my family.

I don't feel it is eavesdropping at all.
For me, forums are a public place to come and connect with fellow peoples, see what is going on and what everyone's opinions are on the various subjects.
Eavesdropping would be viewing other people's PMs.

Agree too.

Not that I would be able to stop myself if it was eavesdropping - I'm so damned nosey and it's come back to bite me more than once.

I think it would be more eavesdropping if all you did was lurk. That way it is kind of like you are picking up someone else's phone signal, but not saying anything

Legally speaking, I don't think that you can evesdrop in a public forum.

Not sure about the seeking part, but you definitely suck at the hiding part
