US performer Prince is to play 21 concerts in London this summer, his only European dates of the year.

He is to spend a week at the O2 arena - formerly the Millennium Dome - with tickets priced at £31.21, a reference to his album 3121.

And he hopes to be joined on stage by soul singer Amy Winehouse, having declared himself a big fan.

An "extended stay" had been arranged because during his last tour in London - in October 2002 - "a lot of people didn't get to see me".

Tickets for the O2 arena gigs, the first of which will be on 1 August, go on sale on Friday at 0900 BST.

We didn't get through on the phone in order to buy the tickets at face value (all tickets sold out in the first 20 minutes), but got them from eBay at less than double face value, which we figured was worth it to see Prince - especially as we each get a free copy of his album too.

And the best thing is, the Dome will be right in my backyard - we'll be able to walk there if we want to - get the bus at the very least. I might even go and hang around outside in August to see if I get get a last minute single ticket. I've found before that if you are willing to go in alone you can sometimes chum up with say 3 people trying to buy tickets for 4, or someone desperate to offload a single ticket from someone who dropped out that day.
