Pilau's Walk
Oh God, here she is again with that damned camera!
I decided to video some of Pilau's walk yesterday (smashing day was had by all - see happy thread ) This is Part 1. Apols for the fact that only half of what i say can be heard - it was very windy! What I was attempting to say at one point was that I love the quarry, because there's something almost primal about seeing the hunks of rock hewn from the hillside.

Yes, it was a bit draughty up on the top there, wasn't it?
I didn't see any trees but I bet those that are about have a pronounced lean. I can't think that winters can be too much fun at times either. Carruthers |

Oh darling, one of my most deep seated ambitions is to live High On A Hill (the title of one of my favourite reading books as a child).
And I so want to walk your dog with you in the wilds! Thank you, thank you, thank you. |

Thank you Dana for the wonderful walk. It was nice to be where you are for a moment. One minute and 39 seconds to be exact.

Ah, perfect timing to watch both at once (no sound on pc downstairs so I saved it for nite time lap top viewing).
Beautiful valley. Is that all heather, or lavender, or something else pretty that pilau was jumping all thru?

Aye, that's heather. Lot of it around. Lot of blackberries and bilberries further up the slopes too. If you go walking up into the really high parts of the valley (further out and back from where i was) you will often see people dotted about the hillsides gathering berries.
Pil loves bouncing through the heather. I am less enamoured of the task of picking out the little bits of it which embed themselves in his fur :P I'll try and get some shots of it in full bloom later in the year. The gorse looks spectacular as well when it flowers: I've never seen a yellow like it; straight out of a child's paintbox.

That path is well worn, who uses it? Is it a shortcut to somewhere?

It's used by dog walkers, walkers generally, school kids, the farmer whose sheep occasionally graze the slopes, etc. It leads from the top of the hill, round and down. Misses out a series of long winding lanes and the village. And leads into the woods. I think it's a designated footpath, part of the network of footpaths that criss-cross the country.

Part three: into the woods. Less than a minute because we bump into Ma and Dante at this point.

And dirt bikes.
I notice Pilau never got too far without stopping and waiting for you to catch up. Does he always do that, or was it because you were talking to the camera?

Varies according to his mood. he does that for much of the walk, then he'll dart off ahead whenever the way is not visible, like he's checking over the hill or scouting out the route :P
If another person or dog appears he's off, like a furry fucking bullet.
