yes very weird. But guts are good you know. Without guts, there'd be nothing for the crocodile to eat! (Are you with HBA?)

"How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail?
And pours the waters of the Nile
O'er ev'ry golden scale

How cheerfully he seems to grin
How neatly spreads his claws
And welcomes little fishes in
With gently smiling jaws!"

Now sing it to O Little Town of Bethlehem.
And Saint Patrick's Breastplate.
And Halifax...And have the bright immensities...?
And for something distinctly offbeat -- to Lledrod.
But not Cwm Rhondda. You can force-fit it into Hyfrydol. But you have to really pound it with a scansion hammer.

It's really much easier to sing it to British Grenadiers. Which I hadn't seen a hymn text set to, come to that, until today. Cyberhymnal has this for it -- The Joyful Morn Is Breaking. Hmm.

Cwm Rhondda

What, You're not singing, You're not singing, You're not singing anymore, You're not sing-ing any-more...?
A favourite on the terraces I assure you

In fact just recently, Arsenal were winning in Europe somewhere and the mikes were very clearly picking up the away crowd, happily singing, "Are you Tott'nam in disguise?" (Tottenham Hotspur being Arsenal's North London rivals).

Found this while YouTubing.
A little too random for the Video Clippes thread, but perfect for this drift.

Serious discussion re the origin of terrace chants.

Okay, it's from a cult early 90s comedy show called The Mary Whitehouse Experience. There really is a South Bank Show and it's not a bad impression of the host.
