Here's an idea for a GTG

http://www.restaurant.com/microsite.asp?rid=331182

http://www.restaurant.com/microsite.asp?rid=335435 ($75 certificate)

Pick a restaurant from restaurant.com and buy a large certificate at %70 off, paying $12 for a $100 certificate.

You have to buy at least $200 worth of food and get $100 off of the bill.

Add 10-15 people and a cash bar.

I like the Mission. I've never been, but the photos made it look nice.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I've used restaurant.com before, and got $45 worth of certificates for about four bucks. The servers are real happy when you present them.

As long as you tip them based on the original price, they shouldn't be pissed...unless they have a fucked up way of tipping out.

I guess some servers might be concerned that you wouldn't tip on the original amount. I've never had a problem with a server being upset, just one or two who did not know how the certificates worked.

BTW, right now Restaurant.com is %80 off (code = santa). I picked up a $10 gift certificate for My Blue Heaven for $0.60! Now I can watch UT on a full stomach.

The food at MBH can be a step above the grade of most little places like that. The bar fare is predictable, but twice the specials have been outstanding, like somebody in the back room really knows how to cook even though the people want cheesesteaks and fries.

That's good to hear. If I use it only for me, then I get $10 off of $15 or more. A combo seafood platter there is less than $9, so that would be a feast for one.
