Ohio woman pleads guilty to exercising her husband to death

link

for those who do not want to follow a link:

CHARDON, Ohio — An Ohio transgender woman has pleaded guilty to reckless homicide for exercising her 73-year-old husband to death in an apartment complex swimming pool.

Middlefield police say surveillance video shows 41-year-old Christine Newton-John pulling James Mason around the pool by his arms and legs and preventing him from leaving. Mason had a heart attack on June 2 just after the extended swim session.

Police Chief Joseph Stehlik says a deputy investigated the death because of previous complaints that Mason was abused. Newton-John pleaded guilty on Thursday. She faces up to five years in prison.

Mason was a longtime friend of his wife's family. He knew her as John Vallandingham before she had gender reassignment surgery in 1993 and changed her name. They married in Kentucky in 2006.

*************

Was it necessary to mention transgender status? At least the story gets the pronouns right. But AFAIK, once a person has GRS, they are the new gender...legally anyway. Why not just report it as "Woman Exercises Her Husband to Death"? And why not bring up the May-December marriage more stridently?

I think *I* could have written this story better.

Not sure what to think about it. I have heard the story a few times and never once heard anything about the transgendered status of the suspect.

What about all those Ohio women who have over-fed their husbands to death?

What the hell does being transgendered have to do with the story?

The same that being an Ohio woman has to do with the story. Bwaahaaa...

Maybe it should read: some chick or not-chick does something to make someone she knows stop respiring, somewhere in the world, at some time.

Film at 11

Well, what makes any "story" a "story" and more publishable than the next story?

It's a valid point delivered with dripping sarcasm, in my usual manner.
