WTF am I being stalked?

My friend and I attend some fund raisers that support the local Humane societies. On a Tuesday night in an old distillery turned bar the local humane society had a fund raiser. A bring yourself and your dog kinda thing. At the bar a man introduced himself to me and my friend as Todd an orthopedic surgeon from Chicago doing a few shifts at the local hospital emergency room.

The town this is in is known as a Lake Michigan summer resort for mostly FIPs, the locals term for people from Illinois. They are wealthy white collar heart's in the right place people for the most part.

Anyhoo while nursing the only drink we would have during this function, my friend engaged this man in conversation telling him about her therapy work with her dogs at the hospitals.

The next nite I saw a phone call on my caller ID that I did not recognize so I googled the name and up came mug shots online. There was this guy's photo from 11 years ago for battery and breaking and entering. His name is not "Todd" he is local to that area and I had to wrack my brain how this man would get my home phone number. I remembered a gal I know from a local dog club wanted to remember me to her friend who has the same breeds I do and I gave her my full name. I know her she would not have given out my name but I bet this guy over heard.

I have no idea what to think about this except my intuition tells me this guy stalks women he thinks are wealthy. But how stoopid was he to call [he left no message] and his real name showed on my caller ID?

You could report him to the police, saying that you suspect him of stealing "Todd's" identity. Even if you're pretty sure it's just a lie, not an identity, it's a good excuse for them to snoop around on him a bit...

Did your friend give him your number? Did she let him use her phone for a moment?

I'd prolly call the police and tell them what Clod said.

My friend is an attractive lady who is 10 years older than me and would never give anyone my phone number. But my home phone is listed even though I rarely answer it. I bet he just called information.

If his conviction was 11 years ago, maybe he has moved on with his life and is making a new one for himself. Which might include not giving full information to people he doesn't want to find him online.

Just saying, he made a schoolboy error in making the call and not leaving a message if he is still in the criminal business.
You're a lovely looking lady, it's quite legitimate he just has a crush.

could have been wrongly convicted too. however i doubt this due to him using an alias

edit: clod's idea is good too but no need to lie. just tell them what you discovered. they should make a report about it and also keep the weaponry handy but stealthy and ready to go at a moments notice. remember, if you pull a gun on someone use it. don't intimidate because that gives the attacker a chance to disarm you and turn the tables.

I would have entertained your idea Sexobon except I took Victor my Belgian to this fund raiser and if anything he is a deterrent. He is a social beast but very protective. He is black and people are afraid of him

Sundae schoolboy? Nope he was 35 then. I suspect this guy's record had to do with an ex wife, he looks like he had a meth addiction in the mug shot.

Plthijinx my house is a 1/2 mile from the road if someone is out here without calling its shoot first ask questions 45 minutes later when police may arrive.

No further contact was made. Maybe not an easy target or he found someone else. I related the incident to the Humane society fundraiser person.

Sorry, Nirv, it's possibly a British term.

Schoolboy error is a football commentary cliche, meaning someone has made an error in play that they should have grown out of long ago.

Anger mounts after Facebook's 'shadow profiles' leak in bug
Quote:
According to Reuters, the data leak spanned a year beginning in 2012.
The personal information leaked by the bug is information that
had not been given to Facebook by the users - it is data Facebook
has been compiling on its users behind closed doors, without their consent.
<snip>
According to the admissions in its blog, posted late Friday afternoon,
Facebook appears to be obtaining users' offsite email address
and phone numbers and attempting to match them to other accounts.
It appears that the invisible collected information is then being stored
in each user's 'shadow profile' that is somehow attached to accounts.

Users were clearly unaware that offsite data about them
was being collected, matched to them, and stored by Facebook.
The yearlong gap of exposure as described by Reuters creates a scenario
of horrifying possibilities for any woman who has begin to experience harassment,
abuse or stalking by an ex within the past year. Or, anyone being maliciously stalked
and harassed by a tech-savvy aggressor (or a stalker's Facebook sock puppet)
they may have accidentally friended over the past year.
