Felipe Calderone is a goddamned fool.
Tue Jun 8, 2:16 pm ET
Mexican President Felipe Calderon is condemning the killing of an illegal immigrant by U.S. Border Patrol agents as a "truly unacceptable violation" that involved "torture." He's also tying it to Arizona's immigration law, even though the incident took place on the border with California. "A death with that degree of violence is a truly unacceptable violation," Calderon said, according to the Associated Press. "We need to raise all our voices, not only for Mexico but for human rights, because the cause of migrants is a cause that affects us all." He added that the Arizona immigration law "opens a Pandora's box of the worst abuses in the history of humanity." A San Diego police captain told the Associated Press that Anastacio Hernandez — who was in the country illegally and was being deported to Mexico — wrestled two Border Patrol agents to the ground when his handcuffs were removed at the border crossing between San Diego and Tijuana. An agent shocked him with a stun gun and he died hours later. Calderon, who criticized U.S. immigration policy during his visit to the White House last month, says Mexico is engaging in an "energetic protest of the torture and death of Anastacio Hernandez, a Mexican who died at the hands of North American migration authorities." This rhetoric can't help his relationship with the U.S., which he depends on for cash and resources to fight the country's costly drug war. But Calderon is a deeply unpopular president, and turning the focus to foreign policy might be a way for him to distract from domestic failures. His war on the drug cartels, which the U.S. supports financially through the Merida Initiative, has unleashed a wave of violence in the country. A recent poll sponsored by the Mexican newspaper El Universal shows that Calderon's approval rating remains at 41 percent. That's unchanged since February, despite his newly aggressive stance toward the U.S. Those polled listed the country's main problems as national security and jobs. Correction: An earlier version of this post gave Calderon's approval rating as 32 percent. That is the approval rating of Calderon's Cabinet. — Liz Goodwin is a national affairs writer for Yahoo! News. With the crazy fuckers in Mexico essentially standing in line to get kidnapped, tortured, raped, shot, and mutilated (and not necessarily in that order!), Calderone gets his tits in a twist over this? Really? ![]()

It's going to get worse. Today in El Paso, a border patrol agent shot and killed a 14-year old Mexican boy, who was trying to cross the river, and who was throwing rocks at the agents.

Rocks can be deadly weapons. Fire away.

sure, they were trying to enter illegally; and sure they were throwing rocks but still--bad news to kill a kid.

Yes, it is. Hopefully the agent who felt the need to use deadly force will seek appropriate counselling so he doesn't suffer any lasting difficulties.
If you don't want your kid to run the risk of being shot by border patrol then teach them not to illegally invade foreign nations but if they do decide to invade foreign nations, then bygosh make sure they know not to throw rocks at law enforcement.

I'm not debating whether or not it was justified; just pointing out that tensions will worsen because of this incident. Literally "bad news."

Nah, politicians are lame. People who are hired to do a job but only spend their energy keeping their job while ignoring the original task are lame. People that can't discuss an issue without constantly attacking other participants are lame.
Cloud, I hear you. It is genuinely bad news when someone needlessly dies. Contrary to popular beliefs I am human and recognize the tragedy here. In my opinion though, the real tragedy is that some people will completely miss the actual cause of this tragedy and focus on their own agendas.

And "For The Record": The post was actually not about immigration at all...It was about Calderone condemning one of the most compassionate nations on earth for using a Taser on a Mexican citizen, when the crazy sons-of-bitches are torturing and killing and beheading each other and stacking the bodies like fucking cordwood.
The drift abides...
