Mulberry tree

We have a Mulberry tree in our back yard. I've always viewed it as kind of a pest (hey, that gives me an idea) because the berries fall all over the ground and then you track them into the house on the soles of your shoes even if you wipe your feet. Plus the birds come and shit their black mulberry shits all over everything.

I've eaten a berry or two off the tree and they taste fine. Not great like a raspberry or blackberry, but not too bad. Has anyone here ever done anything with mulberries or know what sort of thing I might be able to do with them?

I'm hoping to change my perception of this tree as being a pain in the ass for two or three weeks out of the year to being a bountiful provider of food for my family.

I'm assuming I can spread some old sheets on the ground or even get up in the tree on a ladder and pick berries. But then what should I do with them? Does anyone here have any experience with them?
