Harmony One, finally a really good all in one remote!
We finally got our HDTV and Bluray player set up and attached to the AV tuner, etc. etc. etc. and our home entertainment system is just about complete. From top to bottom we have the new 55 inch LG HDTV, the digital cable box thing that also can record stuff for later viewing, Nakamichi AV tuner system, Nakamichi CD player, LG Bluray player, Sirius radio tuner, HD radio tuner, and the VCR (we still own a few). But that gave us a heap of remotes to use for different tasks.
So we got the Logitech Harmony One remote which is pretty cool as it can easily be programed to work with just about any device. The nicest part is that as you set it up you point your old remotes one at a time at the new one and send the IR signal so none of that pointing the new remote at the device and pushing the code button endlessly until it recognizes the one for your device. It also has a touch screen like a smart phone so once you have it all set up you merely touch the "Activity" that you want to do like watch a DVD or listen to the HD radio and it basically turns everything on that is required for that activity and set it all up! At $249 it wasn't cheap so we better not loose it in the couch or under a chair! ![]() |

For $249 it should come with LoJack.

I thought that remote could be connected to the internet to download all of the required codes (through a computer).

We have that remote! I think Zippy does too, if I recall correctly. Except we bought ours refurbished for about $100 I think. We've had some problems with it spontaneously rebooting on us over the years, but not enough of a pain to overshadow its awesomeness.

Nakamichi are really nice. Does yours have the low-end envelope you can dial in? If so, bump it up and put on some Bob Marley.
