Alcohol and percocet/vicodin

How do you feel about mixing?

Poll to come

They gave me vicodin when my arm was split in half (well, it was in a cast) and vicodin SUCKS. It didn't do a goddam thing unless I drank some beers with it.

I've never had percocet, so I don't know.

All that shit is laced with acetaminophen, it will give your liver a workout especially in combination with booze. It's fucked up that they put the acetaminophen in there.

The one time I took it, the room wouldn't stop spinning. It sucked. I stopped taking them and just dealt with the pain. Much better. Maybe if I drank booze too it would have been better.

The vicodin I'm on after my surgery doesn't seem all that strong. It did help, but the pain was still just tolerable. Thats probably a good thing that it didn't completely dope me up and I was able to be in control of myself. I still wouldn't want to mix it with alcohol even if I was in worse pain, I think I would call the doc and just tell them I needed something else.

I've been given Vicodin quite a few times and I just don't bother anymore. It doesn't relieve the pain any better than a handful of advil and it leaves me with a horrific headache. No thanks.

Percs are waaaaaaaay better than vicodin. IF you MUST take vic, get the DAW. Generics seem to vary widely in quality, esp. when it comes to pain meds (and, baby, I know my pain meds)

Very informative chart comparing various painkillers. YMMV

We don't get vicodin over here, even under a different name, so I had to do a bit of googling. Turns out our equivalent is Co-dydramol, or solpadeine. The latter of those is available over the counter.

I've definately drunk whilst on co-dydramol. Can't say as I noticed any difference to drinking ordinarily. But since I was also smoking ... who knows?

Yeah, Tylox used to be a very nice drug. I wonder what happened to it?

Don't care for vicodin. It upsets my stomach too much.

i think tylox is a brand name for an oxycodone/acetaminophen mixture. in other words, its percocet. might be wrong, but i worked a few diversion cases involving it in the past
