My Baby is a Baby no More...

Yep, little Maxy is now more or less potty trained and only wearing a nappy (diaper) at night time just in case of accidents, so that is pretty much the last vestige of babyhood gone.

Today I unpacked his change table and got it ready to hand over to the next family having a baby, so not even his room shows any evidence of his babyhood.

It's nice to think that he's growing up and doing well, but all the Mum's reading this will know that it's sort of sad when you have to let go of that last baby thing - which I'm sure is different for all of us - and accept that your baby (specially the last one) is now a child and not a baby. In fact, in Max's case, he's a big boy now apparently. Or so he tells me every time he uses his potty.

*hmmm*

Yeah, that's a few years away yet though. lol I didn't cry with Mav or Aden, but I might with Max.

The whole no nappy thing is great for all of us. Aside from not dealing with shit anymore, it saves money too which is always a bonus.

I was celebrating in the streets when mine finally went off diapers. It was like getting a raise. I know what you mean about letting go of the baby phase, though. I almost cried when my son told me specifically not to walk him to his classroom the first day of school, this year.

Having watched the new intake this year, it seems to take many mums by surprise.
Those who cry and didn't expect to.
Those whose children go in without a problem when they expected one.
The children who make a fuss on day five when it dawns on them that this isn't temporary.
And all that and everything.
(Mumdae had tears from my sister for months. I ran in first morning and never looked back)

I'm grateful I'm not stuck in Reception. I enjoyed my time there, but I wouldn't want to face the first few months year in, year out. Against expectations, Tiger's rolled with the changes. As has M - an autistic child in the year above, who gets the same time allowance from another TA who I am quite close to. They are very different children, but both seem to appreciate the structure and discipline of a higher school year.
