Suppose you had a piece of steel from the twin towers
After looking at the IOTD I followed the link and saw a photo of a chunk of WTC steel. I wondered what people would do if they had a piece of WTC steel.

Have Perry Winkle make me a knife out of it!
You like how I stole his answer? He totally can't say that now, he has to come up with something else. |

Use it to make a sword. Not unlike Terry Pratchett's meteorite sword.

If it were a small enough chunk, I would put it on my display shelf along with my cast resin Ground Zero flag raising statue and the display of pins that I was given in commemoration of my service to some folks who served at Ground Zero.
A big piece would probably have to go on the patio.

I would build a warship out of it to bomb the Taliban back to the stone age... wait, they already live in the stone age.

Ahh, guys ... Taliban =/= Al Qaeda.
Taliban means "religious community" or "congregation". As such, Talibans exist in every muslim country; most do very little beyond a bit of social cohesion, while others are concerned solely with local affairs, trying to provide some sort of law in the chaos of corrupt or collapsed nations like Afghanistan or Somalia. Al Qeada is an international terrorist organisation which was responsible for the terror attacks. i.e. our legitimate enemies. No doubt there is some overlap of membership, and no doubt that the Afghan Taliban allowed AQ to have safe haven in Afghanistan. This does not make "the taliban" automatically the enemy. That said, if there was a chance to beat Bin Laden over the head with a piece of WTC steel, the queue to do so would stretch from NY to LA. And I'd join it.

yeahbut ... Al Qaeda didn't blow up the buddhas. Or punish girls for getting an education (well, they would given the chance, but not so systemically). Admittedly The Taliban did cut back on the opium trade, but that's kind of like lauding Hitler's having brought about an economic recovery.
