Don't rape them but ...

do everything else within a smudged/deliberately fogged area of the boundary(ish) of the law.

Bloody idiot.
Some young men talk like that. They need to learn respect.

As a man, that's embarrassing.

Dude might be in college, but, his mind is still in seventh grade.

'Always start w/the making out...'

Maybe that's where I go wrong...I usually start with the 'flying monkey grab'.

It was attitudes like this that made me look for a college without a Greek system when I was applying years ago. If a school has a Greek system, then you need to rely on it for social events. And if you aren't in the system then you're an outsider. But if you go to a school with none of that, then the student body makes sure there is social stuff going on. You'll still have idiots in the population, but they won't have a megaphone for spreading their messed up ideas.

There isn't (or wasn't) a Greek system in Ontario universities; I never encountered it until we moved here and my kids went to college. I don't think the 'networking and leadership' excuse justifies the harm these frats do. There are endless opportunities in a college or university to network and learn leadership skills.

Well, we don't really have an equivalent here (except for a few club type things in oxbridge) but those attitudes are rife in the higher education system.

I don't get the impression things are so bad in Leeds, but there's been a lot of complaints and calls to change the 'culture of laddishness' on campuses. That sounds farily innocuous but covers a multitude of sins ranging from wandering hands and rape humour (or 'banter' as it is usually termed) to volubly mocking female involvement in seminars within certain male bastion subject areas and outright sexual assaults.

When Peter was in Bradford there were multiple disruptions of the Female Student Association (or similar name) by the Rugby Club. They were apparently making a point because men were disallowed. Oh and there was a furore when female students were offered free personal alarms (know generically as rape alarms.)

I'm pretty sure things have moved on from then. I hope so.
Personally I always carried my (free from the NHS) alarm when I walked through Viccy Park after dark in Leicester. Against robbery, not sexual assualt.

These days I cut the corner of the Vale Park while it's still dark in the mornings. I have Lola's flashlight so I don't fall over and my whistle from when I supervised playtimes. And nothing of value anyway.
