28

My birthday is tomorrow--I'll be 28. *thinks about it for a second* Yep, 28.

Given that my birthday is on a Sunday, and given that I took Monday off, I decided to make it a birthday weekend. Why not? Especially since I won't have another birthday weekend for 3 more years.

So far, it's been pretty good. I got $25 from the in-laws earlier in the week, my Ozomatli CD came in the mail today (that wasn't really a birthday gift, but it was just nice that it came today), and Toad and I went to Atlantic City this afternoon (more on that later). I never do anything extravagant, nor do I receive extravagant gifts, so things are going just as I had hoped.

Thursday, my big gift arrived--the gift from my parents: An indoor/outdoor George Foreman grill. It is sooooo sweet! It's fucking huge! I thought I was just getting the standard one, but the 'rents decided to spring for the big 'un. That was awfully nice of 'em!

My mom told me it was coming this week, but I forgot to tell Rho about it. So while I was at work Thursday, she calls me:

R: "Did your mom send us something UPS?"

S: "Oh yeah! My birthday present! The George Foreman grill. I must have forgotten to tell you about it."

R: "Jesus Christ! This thing is huge! I was like, 'What the hell is you mom sending us now?'"

I was pretty surprised myself when I saw the box sitting in our hallway...it's heavy too: 27 lbs (12.4 kg).

Maybe I'll test it out Monday night. I'll get something good to make, like skinless chicken, or maybe even steaks. I rarely eat steak, so maybe this is a good time for one.

Tonight will be fairly quiet...maybe I'll go rent a couple of DVDs. I was just telling UT that I haven't seen Reservoir Dogs in a while, and it would be a good setup to one of tomorrow's activities.

Tomorrow we'll probably go out to eat at someplace relatively nice--I'm kinda torn at the moment: Tamarind (Thai joint on South Street) or El Azteca (Mexican, less than 10 minutes from here)? It depends on where Kill Bill Volume 1 is showing...

Lessee...hmmm, it's playing at Grant Plaza, which is right across the street from El Azteca. Yep, that's where we'll go.

I'm hearing good things about Kill Bill, but even if had gotten shitty reviews, I'd still go see it b/c it's a Tarantino flick. I love all his movies, so I'm fairly certain I'll like this one (and Volume 2) too.

Monday...hmmm. Maybe I'll just rest and relax. I have a busy week coming up at work, so I'll be putting in a hellalot of hours Tues.-Fri. Or maybe we'll go down to the shore if it's nice. Or maybe we'll do that tomorrow.

Decisions, decisions.

(To be continued in another post...slang deemed the original post too long. That big fucking retard...)

Hey Syc, I didnt read your incredibly long post, but have a nice birthday.

Maybe you should take monday off too, just to recover. Watch some movies and drink some Yuenglings.

(The original post was kinda long. I compared it to a couple of posts by other folks that Dave deemed too long...and it was about the same length as those. So, here it is broken up. Now shut the fuck up and read it, slang. )

In lieu of monetary gifts, please take the money you would give me and give to the Cellar Tip Jar. If you weren't going to give me birthday money, give money to the Cellar Tip Jar anyway, you sorry bastard! UT provides a wonderful service to all of us, and based on his current situation, I'm sure the donations would be greatly appreciated. He doesn't expect you to donate, of course...but it would be nice if you did...if you have it. I mean, times are still a bit rough here.

You know, the Cellar is kinda like a co-op. I mean, yeah, UT is the real owner, but we all own a piece of it in a way. How much time do you spend on here, enjoying the good conversations, UT's images, my witty wisecracks, Dave's newbie attacks, Wolf's psychiatric observations, and the dirty ol' man's dodads?

(Jesus...I spend probably 20-30 hours a week here if not more.)

So, if you like the Cellar...LOVE the Cellar as much as I do--and you have some spare change lying around--then show UT some love and click on the paypal link to donate.

Now if you'll excuse me, there are some Yuenglings in the fridge with my name written all over them...

You're going to spend your birthday shooting people? or just cutting off a guy's ear?

(I know that this is a good way to go, because that's typically what I do on my birthday ...)

Thanks, incidentally, for reminding me that I have to get Reservoir Dogs on DVD. Haven't replaced that one yet. Just got my copies of The Usual Suspects and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, though, so I'm set for at least a while.

Sure thing, little buckaroo. It'll have to be after I get off work though.

Do you want the AK or the shotgun? Because it's your birthday, you get to choose where you want the rampage to start.

He's jokin'. I only have to help him with the really hard words that have more than about 6 letters. I knew that my gradual school degree would come in handy one day ...

This is a church. If you look very closely at the bell tower you can see the shadow of a man. I think the shadow is that of the dude called Radar. I cant tell if he's praying or if he has a firearm.*Anyway I thought you might not be the least bit intertested in this boring pic, so here it is.

Hmmm...the church has elements of Gothic and Romanesque. And it's made of rock...it reminds me of St. Alphonsus "Rock" Church in St. Louis.

And that's a shark.

Well my birthday was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received my grill from your 'rents, Syc. Are you sure that one isn't mine? After all you were suppose to get the small one.
Anyway monday is special. It's my first anniversary in the Cellar. I wonder if there's anyone I haven't pissed off yet?
Happy Birthday to YOU!!
