gmail notifier
Neat standalone application. I suppose it's similar to keeping Yahoo messenger open, but it runs a lot lighter and anyway, it's gmail, so it's pretty fucking cool by association, IMHO.
But this morning, I encountered this problem with the notifier: "Cannot read messages (bad data; 6)." ![]() Fucked up for a good two hours until about 15 minutes ago, when I noticed that the warning symbol (an !) disappeared. ![]() Anyone know what this is? I've been looking around the Web, but can't find a definitive answer. A post on another forum notes that Gmail automatically downloads and updates its registry files - which is spelled out in its user agreement, but something to watch for. What's next? We've all heard rumors that a Google browser is in the works, but what's to follow? GoogleIM? An Outlook-like application? GoogleTunes? Google Time Travel?

Hey, when you stumble upon the lost trove of Google-Mystery-Enders, before you're dispatched like the less careful and important worthies in the temple of doom, would you mind looking around for the answer to my current Google-Mystery?
I set up new machines all the time here at work, and many times as a test of the connectivity to the internet, I will launch a browser, either Firefox or IE, happens in both, and the google homepage will come up... for BRAZIL. That's www.google.com.br. Go freakin figure. By the way my Rube Goldberg GMail notifier is my HP6315. I have my gmail account connected to the work exchange system, and from there to my handheld. Gmail arrives, HP buzzes and beeps. Complicated but cool.

I didn't realize Gmail also recently added an autoreply or redirect tool (I haven't looked at it myself - a co-worker just mentioned that when we were talking about Outlook issues). Is this true? Is she making this up?

There's a plugin for Trillian that checks your email as well.
