Tschiderer, with E Troop, 101st “Saber” Cavalry Division, attached to 3rd Battalion, 156th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, was knocked to the ground from the impact, but he popped right back up, took cover and located the enemy’s position.

After tracking down the now-wounded sniper with a team from B Company, 4th Battalion, 1st Iraqi Army Brigade, Tschiderer secured the terrorist with a pair of handcuffs and gave medical aid to the terrorist who’d tried to kill him just minutes before.

I can only imagine the confusion in the sniper's head right now. Think what he has just seen, from his perspective. (some of these details are in the PDF linked from that story page)

You shoot your bitter enemy flat in the chest, from right across the street. He falls. Then he comes back to life, gets up, locates you within 3 seconds, and scampers behind his armored vehicle for cover. He yells to his team where you are; they return fire, hitting you. You try to run and they simply follow your trail of blood. And then the guy who you just shot in the chest, who came back to life, ties you up, and then treats your wound.

Allah akbar, indeed. Welcome to body armor you fuckers.

In several days I have viewed a couple of video shot by insergents. Video of an ambush on a U.S. convoy, video of a booby-trapped cart sitting on the side of the road blowing up as a convoy passes by (I assume a U.S. convoy I can't tell), and the ever-popular "dumb-ass newbie insergent in the middle of the road with an RPG getting his blown off off by a U.S. mahinegunner" video. I spoke with a guy I work with, a friend of mine and a muslim, and I asked him, "What would you do if you heard somebody chanting 'Allahu Akbar'?"

He said it depends in whether it in a mosque, over a hurt friend, or in the middle of a crowd. He said that the first two are cool, the first is an in church prayer, and the second is as a comforting prayer.

He also said that if it was in a crowded street that he'd find the nearest manhole cover and dive in.
