Pretty much you get the degree or you don't. Many (most?) colleges award "cum laude," "magna cum laude," and "summa cum laude" to the top finshers. (At my university you got those for earning a final GPA of 3.0-3.499, 3.5-3.899, or 3.9-40 respectively.) There's no US equivalent for a 3rd class degree AFAIK... the student who barely escaped expulsion and the one with a 2.99 who barely missed the "cum laude" mark would both get the same diploma.

We had 2 grades in grad school. 94 - 100 = A; 80 -93.999 = B; >80 = F.

Posting something positive to offset my post in the "irritating me" thread:

Yippee, one of my profs has agreed to write me a letter of recommendation so I can apply for some scholarships. I asked 3 of them so I'll probably get more than one, but I'm getting a late start since they're due 3/1 and the others might not have time. But this prof luuuuurves me.

ETA: no, not that way.

One more thing...this TIA you speak of...besides being a stroke, it's also "aunt" in Spanish and the name of the little girl in Escape to Witch Mountain.
