				Great Pacific Garbage Patch

In the Pacific Ocean there lies a collection of floating debris known as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This particular garbage heap is said to be twice the size of the United States and is compromised of mostly plastic. I've read several articles about the effects this garbage is having on the environment but none mention global warming. What if the giant plastic cover is acting like a giant solar cover used in swimming pools. Scientists say increasing temperature in the ocean leads to stronger and more frequent hurricanes. This is not proven but I think maybe a committee should be put together to investigate it at least.

I am sorry, but this was the first thing that came to mind. |
