There is so much we can learn out there about energy independence.

Along the lines of energy efficient home, I have been looking at dome homes, earth homes, and spray concrete homes. I came across this web site. Pretty interesting story, well documented pics of the construction, and a long blog of the events since construction from the storms they have encountered.

I've thought about building a monolithic dome for years. They're supposed to be hurricane proof, fireproof, etc., and very energy efficient.

I wonder how well this would work in an area like mine with temperature extremes of 115 high in summer, 10 low in winter. We would love to move to some acreage and build our own home.
