tough to parse the language barrier, but the exercise of it left me with a thought.

How much of the nuance of the debate stateside is lost in the translation? Most people that i know of on both sides hold there positions for well considered, carefully articulated reasons. If those are not being communicated across the language barrier, it seems that all you're left with is the rudimentary force of the sensus plenerius of the words themselves.

"We fear that Saddam's suspected weapons of mass destruction may be given to Al-Queda operatives to be used in attacks against innocent civilians"

becomes

"We think Saddam will bomb us"

Right or wrong, the former is defensible and carefully articulated. The second is brutish and foolish. How much of American's internal conversation gets reduced to the same level?

Seems like they're going around posting their message to as many American bulletin boards as possible. They want to plant the seeds of reason in us, the irrational war-mongering Americans. Even if those seeds may be small, they feel that they'd at least be doing something.

It's rather touching. Noble Spam. Spamming for peace. It almost brings a tear to the eye!

A message for our Spanish friends (and I apologize in advance if the Spanish is poor):

Bienvenido a The Cellar.

I feel sort of manipulated, now....kind of dirty and used.

I'm sure they are sincere, but it would have been better if they'd interjected their opinions without having been organized by some outside agency.

Funny. They want to come onto American forums and "expose the real facts" to us overcensored Americans. But instead they tell us nothing which we don't already know (that the US military is killing people, for instance), and expect us to take it as a great revelation.
