What are some of your favorite woods?
I'm partial to walnut.

don't have a favorite, but if you are interested in wood, I highly recommend the book:
A Splintered History of Wood by Spike Carlsen.

Although I like what some antique furnituremakers did with maple grains, some of the newer "exotic woods" are tantalizing like
African Zebrawood. ![]()

I'm a sucker for cherry and for bird's eye maple.
Pear and Persimmon are quite lovely as well. |

I'm fairly fond of oak, although a good knotty pine can get me all sappy.

Mesquite for BBQ and oak for wine barrels,
cherry for furniture and walnut for gun stocks, pine for Christmas trees and cedar for shoe trees, these are a few of my favorite things. |
