anybody skype?

anybody else here skype? I've been using it for the past few weeks, and it seems great for those times when you can setup a call ahead of time, so that you are both online. I'm just wondering how useful it is for everyday communication, since so few people are on it, and even fewer stay logged on.

I use skype. I got a really cool USB phone for my pc too. I'm on as ptireland. It works great for making international calls. As far as regular calls, I'm not sure. It only works if you can find other people using it. If you call a regular phone there's a cost involved. In that aspect, I'd probaby go with Vonage.

It's absolutely incredible for international calls--completely free, hours-long conversations to Japan, with no delay or static like you got on a normal phone connection.

Other than that, I don't use it. But my husband (when he's not in Japan) still uses it for team chat functions while he's gaming with friends.

I installed it and never used it, not knowing anybody else who has it.

it's been great for remote recording sessions. I can be online with the producer or artist, they can talk me through tunes, i can send them the tracks via file transfer, works great.

That rocks. Seriously...did not think about that with Skype.
