				Is this normal?

Is it normal for a 45x cd player to whir much, much more loudly than a slower one? And for the cds to come out hot? And for these things to happen only with data discs, not music? |

a:music cds only need to be read slowly to keep up easily. b: Yea if it's intensive(game maybe?), they can come out hot, unless its to the point of melting, i wouldn't worry about it. c: Depends largely on the brand and quality i've found.

Yep, some CD-ROMs whir much more than others. If it's just whirring and no other kind of noise, it's probably normal.

Long as its not a vibration type sound. Thats bad bad news. Or like my friends old burner, a kind of crunching sound like a Barina backending a Mack truck.

I kinda like the sound when there are newbies near by. I just pretend that the faster the machine the more whir you hear. My mom heard my cd a whizzing while I was playing Morrowind and was asking what is that and I told her it was the turbine cooling tubes. She was impressed! LOL newbie are fun!

That's amazing.. not only are those letters switched, they are immune to the laws of light and shadow as experienced by most other objects in the known universe!

Nope, they're just bright enough (due to retroreflectors) to saturate the film (or just the print) even in shadow. This image has been around for a long time, so at least it isn't a _recent_ photoshopping. Though it could still be a fake.
