Excuse me, I need to go change my shorts...

...as I have just learned that Genesis will do a reunion tour of Europe in the Summer of 2007, to be followed by 20 American dates beginning in September. Collins, Banks, Rutherford, Thompson and Steurmer, the live lineup that was so popular in the late 80's and throughout the early 90's are confirmed, but there has been held out a tantalizing possibility of Gabriel and Hackett possibly participating.

Damn, are they going to make a pile of money. Some of it will be mine.

Yes. Yes. For me this is just massively huge, and I am actually thinking about opening a separate savings account so I can be assured of getting the best possible tickets on eBay or StubHub.

Surely they will go for $500 and maybe more, but I can redeem myself for not having seen them all along.

I loved Genesis at one time, but this reeks of a money making scam
Don't get me wrong it would probably be a great show but their motives for getting back together are very suspect.
There are so many other new bands out there that are doing great stuff if you're into prog Dream Theatre,Porcupine Tree,Spocks Beard to name just a few are Genesis still relevant these days neither prog nor pop if I remember their last few albums..

I listen to a ton of new stuff but not prog. That represents a period of my musical life that I treasure and these were the heroes of it at the time. I still love it all.

Dream Theater (and other associated shredprog) kicks ass, porcupine tree is alright, but prog is mostly dead.

My favorite Spock's Beard number is "Counting Out Time", if that tells you anything.

Genesis? Oh yeah, that big cape with the collar, under blacklights, in a foot deep fog.....floating across the Walnut St Theater stage.

After Foghat finished, of course.

The last time I saw them was 80-ish at JFK with a flock of seagulls and some other bands like 4 or 5 can't really remember - much too much at the time. Now I gotta call my buddies and find out who was there and what I did. I know I could find some indica somewhere! ! !

Oh the connections I once had - my my my i am so reminiscing right now of like 70something to - 80 something. Many fractured memories and fragmented thoughts. (holding lighter in air) Dead shows up and down the east coast, Yes, the Who, (took my Dad), Genesis, Gabriel, Zepplin. . . Real Bands with staying power, not these one hit wonders. Partying with the bands afterwards. . . ugghh and what do l have to show for it? Loss of most of the memories and a lotta brain cells.

I first saw Genesis in about 1972 or '73 during the Foxtrot tour. They played in Atlanta at the old Fox theatre, one of the few surviving movie houses from the depression. The inside is like being in a moorish town with a star lit ceiling. At that time it was in disrepair and either was for concerts or crappy movies. I must have been 16 or 17.

The concert was general admission and we waited outside in a long line. I still remember the Atlanta police harrassing us. They kept shouting "stay in line up against the buildings!" and "Do you want to come with me to jail!?" The Atlanta police had a thing for beating up hippie types back then. I also remember an old homeless woman trying to bum smokes. She coughed up something on the sidewalk not far from us.

The concert was great and I still remember Peter Gabrial doing "Watcher of the Skies"
