I just got it. Nifty. Much quieter than I expected, though that's really a function of the drives.

Does it work well? Did you get the add-on to turn it into network attached storage?

I didn't get the add-on, as my home network is two computers, one of which I don't turn on. Maybe later.

As for operation, I'll see what happens on Thursday for my sheduled system backup. It took about an hour to copy the backup files from my previous external USB drive to the Drobo. I don't know whether that's good or not. Perhaps at some point I'll try installing an app diectly to it, and see how the USB connection handles it, but for now I'm using it to back up the other disks.

I showed it to my boss's wife. She's doing the yearbook for her daughters' school. She wanted a drive with redundancy and large capacity. She bought the 4 TB version for $1,100.

I wish I could do that on a whim.
