Another Boeing Dog & Pony show
Quote:
We’re fortunate, however, to have a team of employees dedicated to promoting the virtues of diversity in all aspects of our work. The Boeing Philadelphia Diversity Council, formed in 1999, has helped many of us see the power and potential of diversity through countless workshops and special events. Over the past couple of years, we have heard from Dr. Ling Ye, an executive from Abbott Laboratories in Chicago, The Rev. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr. Each speaker shared their insights, formed by personal experiences, about workplace diversity and its impact on businesses like ours.
I am pleased to announce that Dick Gregory, renowned author, nutritionist and comedian, will share his thoughts on diversity with us on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The day’s events will include two roundtable discussions, a tour of the V-22 focused factory, a keynote speech, a book signing and an art expo. Other notable guests include Janine Fondon, president and CEO of UnityFirst.com, a direct e-mail newsletter dedicated to promoting diversity, Naomi Tutu, associate director, Office of International Relations and Programs at Tennessee State University and daughter of South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Pat Coulter, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Urban League.

This is the first I've heard of Dr Ye. Rev King, I heard about a week after the fact. Bart Starr, I heard about late in the day of his visit. I doubt if they'll let me go to this one, but I have a hard time with this diversity thing anyway. Why in hell should I care where you or your ancestors are from, as long as you're doing your job and not impacting mine?
