Now having seen this new kinder gentler approach I have been moved to read this Zechariah, and notwithstanding all the other fire and brinstone crap in the Old Testament, it sure seems like they're indicating disease and not nuclear annihilation. At the time they would have no clue to this future technology, but flesh would often rot that way via various plagues, and the story of particularly horrorful plagues would travel.

Nuclear annihilation wouldn't reference the consuming of the flesh so much as the burning of it. If God intended to indicate nuclear here, he was a poor writer, apparently unable to select words for clarity.

The OT sure does suck, but then, I thought BACs put more importance into the NT. The NT sure does deny a lot of the fire and brimstone crap with a newfound attitude of tolerance and kindness.
