You know, that's EXACTLY the reaction I had. We were members of LA Fitness for a while--my wife's then-employer had a good signup deal. I didn't have a problem with joining; I thought it was relatively straightforward.

But they offered you a free session of personal training with the membership. And that's where the used-car-lot tactics started.
