The only reason kids would think the veil etc is scarey is because we (western christians) live in a culture fraught with 'boogeymen' who're usually depicted as black ski mask wearing nasties.
If there weren't so many fairy stories and there was more fact in rearing a child, maybe things like this wouldn't be such an issue.
I also don't think there's anything wrong with children learning about other faiths. This sort of practice breaks down barriers and removes the illusions created by fear mongering grown ups.
