Yes, I draw them. With the little pre-shaped shapes you can drag out, and the straight and curved lines you can make with MS Paint. I find that 400 by 400 pixels is a good size; I can hide it inside other (work) application windows, and the curves are so approximated it helps me see how things are shaped. I can erase and pencil in individual pixels when necessary to correct complicated areas.
The first stage in illustration, even fine oil painting, is to flesh things out with geometric shapes. I do that part in MS Paint, and then just stop there.
