So, what, do you just suppose that anyone who has ever committed a crime, but was never caught by police for it, will simply die and stop existing and just get away with it?

Yip. That's pretty much how I see it. I mean, I don't know, they may spend a few years of life tormented by guilt and the fear that they'll burn in Hell for all eternity....depends on how great the crime and what faith they follow, but other than that, yip.
