The assault on pr0n continues...

http://reason.com/archives/2009/10/2...f-extreme-porn

This is too big to repost so click through.

It seems that the government has sent two more porno producers for mixing Hollywood slasher and rape movie genres with hardcore sex films, producing what is now called obscenity. Either is acceptable on it's own, but apparently mixing them is not. Paul Little (Max Hardcore) is serving a prison term for similar charges.

I know Paul, slightly. We've met a few times and I once reviewed one of his videos. They may have been a bit over the top, but obscene? I don't think so. IMO, Lawnmower Man was obscene. So was I Spit On Your Grave. Porn is not obscene...it's sex between consenting, compensated adults.

Now, it's Extreme Associates on the block. They put out some halfway decent porn. The 90's were a time of boundary-pushing in the porn industry. But unless someone let someone underage perform, or otherwise broke the law, this charge is bogus.

I smell Christian fundies at work here. It's time they got rid of porn once and for all, some say. I disagree. The government should leave the porn industry alone. They don't hurt people...at least not without their consent. They don't force anyone to watch. They have been very successful in self-policing and self-regulating.

I have a finely-tuned sense of propriety. I know when I am offended. There are those who seek out any offense just for the experience of being offended and leaving their mark upon society by either banning that offense or forcing an apology from the offender.

I do not see any right in the Constitution that frees me from offence. I do not have the right to live my life free from being offended by someone else's speech, advertising, films or opinions.

There are some here in the Cellar who offend me with their "verbal" diarrhea and nonsensical postings. I don't demand apologies, their banning or censuring or even try to get the entire internet regulated so as to eliminate that offense. On the contrary, I will fight to the death to protect their own free-speech rights, even though they offend me. I can always ignore them or leave the conversation. I can disagree with them publicly or privately.

I am offended by street-level preachers, holier than thou religious figures, pompous politicians, people who are offended and don't seem to have the maturity to just leave it alone. Yet no one will ever see me trying to put these people in jail.

So why are they doing this?

It is my opinion, offensive or not, that these people are trying to force their own religious views and mores on others who do not believe as they do as a means of attaining what may be called "immortality". They will be remembered by all those of their ilk as the ones who wiped society clean of something that they found unpleasant. Even though their physical bodies will eventually die and their soul will go to it's final judgment and ultimate disposition, their memory will live on, much like their family name will live on through children.

It has been posited that children are a form of immortality, and deeds too, can be a form of immortality. Abraham Lincoln's words and deeds live on long after his death. I have always thought that as long as a person is remembered, they are not truly dead. When I am gone, my words will live on here in the Cellar Archives. Perhaps even in some internet archive as well. My wife will remember me, as will those of you whose life I have touched, however briefly or tangentially.

I'd like to think my touch was a positive factor and that my words did more good than harm. They are my legacy, as I leave no children.

Here, then, is the fundie's legacy...no porn to offend their bretheren or society at large. The People have been protected from immoral influence, whether or not they knew it to be a threat. And the credit will be all theirs.

I hope there is more of an outcry and petitions be circulated. Let the voice of the people be heard, telling these self-righteous pricks to sit down and stay out of our lives. Don't watch porn if it offends you, but let me enjoy some hardcore fucking in my home without anyone being harmed.

This is bullshit.
