My latest creation for the UC Benefits board...it's quite good, if I do say so myself.

This letter is in regards to appealing the decision to deny my benefits beginning with the week ending 1/17/04.

I find that the Finding Of Fact section is inaccurate due to my employer (Careers USA) giving false information regarding my availability. This is not the first time they have given false information--they also gave false information in denying my claim twice in 2003. I was contacted by Daniel Asshat, Account Executive, regarding this particular assignment on 1/8/04. From what he told me about the opportunity, it fit the requirements that I had asked of Careers, which were:

1) Part time hours.
2) Close to home.
3) That the client (potential employer) would be understanding of my doctors'/bloodwork schedule.

I then asked Mr. Asshat if the client knew about my doctors'/bloodwork schedule and if it would present a problem. These appointments are scheduled about 6 months in advance, and to try and make changes to them after they have been set is incredibly difficult, if not impossible. He said he would call the client to get an answer. On 1/9/04, I called Mr. Asshat to get an update, and he advised me that the client stated that they wanted someone who would be there at the time that they had specified (which was 1pm to 4pm, Monday-Friday). Therefore, the client refused my services. There was no refusal on my part whatsoever.

I find it very disturbing that Careers USA would lie in order to get relief from charges. Recently, they have been calling me about assignments that they know I can't possibly accept, mainly due to location (too far away, and therefore harder to get to my doctors on the days that I have scheduled appointments). When I called Careers main office in Boca Raton, FL the week of January 31st to voice my displeasure with their most recent actions, I was told by Lisa Stupidbitch (company position unknown) that if I was getting disability, I should not be getting unemployment. I find this laughable, as I've had money taken out of my UC for the past 9 months because I get SSDI. And as I write this letter, I am working for them again in a 10-day assignment scheduled to end 2/20/04. If I'm unavailable, why would I have accepted the current assignment I am on? It would seem to me that Careers USA is looking for an easy way out of an unfortunate situation. I am 34 years old and on disability for who knows how long...all I want to is to do is work and continue to be a productive member of society. I've worked hard for Careers in the past, and I am incredibly disappointed that they would try to use deceit in denying me unemployment. I worked for it, I qualify for it and I deserve it because Careers had been unable to find me a reasonable assignment prior to last week. Does the Bureau of UC Benefits and Allowances punish employers who give false information, or who act in bad faith in regards to paying UC?

Enclosed you will find a letter composed by my nephrologist regarding my condition.

I am asking the Bureau to end this nonsense once and for all, and grant me UC for the weeks ending 1/17/04, 1/24/04 and 1/31/04.

Thank you,

Rhoda Strickland
