New Beer on the Horizon

I just started two batches of beer.

1) A Pumpernickel Ale (Barley, Rye, Molasses, Hops, Caraway Seed) target: 5.5%ABV - 4 gallon batch. It initially came in at some crazy ass number like 19%ABV so I really need to check my math or re-read my recipe. I watered it down to 5.5%

2) Oatmeal Chocolate Stout (Barley, Steel Cut Oats, Hops, Cocoa Nibs) target: 8.5%ABV - 1.5 gallon test batch. I didn't really want the ABV that high, but I was worried the flavor would be too thin. I need to tweak the recipe a bit. I'm also mixing grains with malt syrup and the conversion chart I have seem to be wildly off or I forgot to carry the naughts...

It'll be about a month before they're ready.

Special shout out to xoB!
