Go Back With Backspace offered by google.com

I use Chrome all damn day. I can't understand, I can't imagine the logic behind taking away the navigation function of the backspace key which, if memory serves, and it may not, this may just be a particularly potent hallucination, which, as I was saying, when pressed, navigated the fuck back one fucking page.

Why is this so hard?
