Vagina....a dirty word.

Saw this on the BBC News website:

It will be known as The Hoohaa Monologues - a child slang word for the female organ - after a woman in Atlantic Beach complained.

Bryce Pfanenstiel from The Atlantic Theatre told local TV station Channel 4 the woman said she was "offended" when her niece asked her what a vagina was.

Now, I can understand that some people might not want to see a play like this.....but really how is the word Vagina objectionable? This woman is upset that her niece wanted to know what the word meant....God forbid a girl learns to name her body parts.

It's a shame that people continue to have these reactions, but I think it's part of the purpose of The Vagina Monologues--to challenge and confront this type of person. In that way, it has succeeded, particularly in light of the publicity.
