@ Griff: It looks like this: I found it at StumbleUpon, who got it from (looks like) vi.sualize.us, where it looks like it came from blogger.com, where it was posted (apparently) by user 'Mosby'. I got lost after that. Sorry.
ETA: It doesn't look like it was a real tree at any point. The 'roots' go around the step a little too nicely.
