Unusual weather we're having, ain't it?

Very AULD thread, but the UK is currently in the grip of an extreme (to us) weather system. Very strong winds and rain as per the BBC.

Severe gales of up to 70mph (129km/h) are battering large parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with worse weather forecast overnight.
Winds have already felled trees and power cables, forced bridge closures and disrupted ferry crossings.
Worst-hit areas are north-west England, Yorkshire and the Humber, Northern Ireland and Anglesey where weather warnings are in place.
Parts of Wales and the Isle of Wight have also seen localised flooding.

Even here in my protected Vale (think The Shire) the winds are buffeting the house.
Was just wondering how other Brits - in more exposed locations - are keeping...?

Howling around the walls and down the chimney and my neighbour's fence has gone.

My town is in the Severn Estuary and very used to wild nights (weatherwise naturally!) as the great bulk of our local weather comes straight from the Atlantic so we benefit from the gulf stream, huge tides and moisture laden cloud. Tonight though I'll sleep with half an ear open for big gusts which might bring roof tiles off, and go out to see the leaf fall tomorrow.
