Ah, but the lesson goes deeper than that. It's not about using words, it's about how the words are delivered. It doesn't matter if you are right and the other guy is wrong, if your delivery is off-putting, and his is not, no one will listen to you. (This is, however, a lesson you are not always well-versed in yourself, so I'm not surprised it wasn't the first interpretation your mind leapt to. )
