Not spectacular here, but I'm glad we can afford to pay someone to plow the driveway...

Glatt, you live in Narnia? Way cool!

(this made better sense before maggie posted because it was going to immediately follow his snowy lamppost and trees pic. Timing really is everything in comedy ...)

You want snow pics? Well, I got snow pics.

First, it's a longstanding tradition that I am lazy about taking snow pics, so one of the first I always get is the view out my bedroom window.

The view out my bedroom window is obscured by a very large cedar tree. I like my cedar tree. It helps to keep the sun out of my face while I'm sleeping.

The dragon is doing his best to melt some of it, but he's not making much headway.

Important safety tip: If you are going to buy an outdoor thermometer, pay more than $2 for it. This one is clearly not working. It's cold, but not THAT cold.

The view through my back door. The windows are cleaner than I thought they would be.

The needles of the cedar tree seem placed perfectly for catching snow in a photogenic manner. Because of this I cannot see the birdseed bell that I hung last night in preparation for the storm in hopes of getting pics of some of the chickadees and cardinals that I'm supporting with bird welfare. Because of the snow I am perfectly not able to see the bell from my recliner.

The birds were up earlier than I was. As you can see they were out with their tiny little shovels and cleared off the birdfeeder. This is a $2 plastic feeder from Walmart. It has been attached to it's hook by a thin piece of string since I bought it two years or so ago. The previous feeder was one of those $45 squirrel proof feeders. It was made of metal and very sturdy lexan. The Squirrels somehow managed to steal it.

My only real order of business for today was to get the car cleaned off. I have finally learned not to leave this until I actually need the car, as it becomes much more difficult to chip out of the ice and partially melted snow.

In a move Tom Sawyer would be proud of, I made it look like I was having so much fun shovelling that my apartment complex's maintenance man, Little Dave (Big Dave is a foot taller than he), decided to help me out.

So I'm out and ready to go.

Some other wintry goodness shots.

I'm completely dumbfounded, here. They've told us we might see flurries in Tampa, tonight.

Man, late winter this year.

Congratulations, Wolf, on being able to use the words "wintry" and "goodness" in the same sentence without the slightest hint of sarcasm...

Cross-link!

Ok, I messed up and opened a thread in the quality images. BTW, Wolf, I'd feel really smug about owning a wireless outdoor thermometer if the damn batteries hadn't run out on it and it lost it's link. Now I have to tread through the snow to reboot the ****ing thing if I want it to register.

You didn't mess up at all, Rich. You chose not to follow along with the herd. Good for you, man, good for you.

Man, I am totally jealous. We had a white Christmas, and basically nothing since. Georgeous pics.

Man, those pics remind me of when I was a little kid living in Chicago. The snow used to be up to the windows and my Dad would build snow forts for me.
We used to skate in the street.

Here in BC you could be riding your bike one moment...then the next moment..shovelling you car out of the driveway.

I have a very similar not-quite-in-Chicago childhood (Glen Ellyn, DuPage County). Snow up to the eaves, and I would typically risk my life burrowing in piles like that. Never did the skating in the street thing, we had a lake.

We, uh, we had frost here this morning. First frost I've seen since 2001. The whole office is buzzing about it. Umm...

Nngh. I miss snow.
