Actually the face on the wolf is a burn. I wanted it black because timber wolf's faces turn black in the winter, same for the black around the carving on his mane.
The "texturing" is also created by leaving patches of the inner bark of the tree on when sanding it off, meant to resemble the patchy pattern of the belly of a snake. |
