Any water that has vegetation growing in it, is going to mean insects, and things that prey on insects like birds, bats and reptiles.

For a pedant, you're awfully sloppy. Here, the "millions" of backyards pool owners would call them just that -pools- not swimming pools. Swimming pool implies large implies indoors in Michigan, which was the terminology being discussed even though I abbreviated it in my post. which was a lighthearted comment anyway. ymmv, ysohmbb
