No, but I might have enough left over from another project. I figure I need about 15-20 feet of the stuff. Probably closer to 20 feet.

Would twisting the Romex help?

Or just run a hot line and use the sink for a ground.

Actually, that makes me wonder about another question. If I used some sort of low voltage lighting, like halogen, and had low voltage cables running along side the cat5, would that make it even less likely to cause problems?

Seems to me you'd want the opposite. They run transmission cables at the highest voltage possible, so that it's the lowest current possible.

Yeah, but I mean for interference with the cat5.

To avoid interference you want the lowest current possible. I believe halogen = lower voltage + higher current to get same lighting. Install regular voltage line and run fluorescent/compact fluorescent. Standard voltage, almost no current.

Yes - that was the point. Already irrelevant are the posted worries and fears (ie induced currents).

It's 60 Hertz electricity. It's digital signals at higher frequencies - different. Even if 60 hertz somehow got induced on the Cat 5 cable, filters in every network interface make it irrelevant. And then is something lese call common mode rejection.

Signal cables must not be in the same conduit as power wires - a human safety issue. All other worries(ie halogen which to electricity acts just like an incandescent bulb) are irrelevant.

Posted was to just do it. Already posted here are reasons far beyond what a typical MBA would ever understand. Or even want to know. But then MBAs want to be told how to think - not know why. Or feel - therefore invent things irrelevant or mythical.

Just install wires through the same hole. Ignore irrelevant signal quality speculation.

The rule for Scales is put Both Power and Data in Metal conduit and Separate them by at least 6 inches ,
That Being said , I have seen power and data run in the same conduit befor ,
Cat 5 has a certin Twist rate ( So many twists of the wire per foot, or inch ) to help eliminate interference ,
You should be OK as Long as you are Not running a dryer or Arc welder ,
Now those Grow Lights in the Basement , well I dont know ,,,,,,,
