I don't think you need worry about her having an unfair advantage. My understanding of the rules would be "after the start of the contest", although i can see that a very recent bypass would be an advantage..

If she's almost at the average weight for her height, then she is actually at a disadvantage not an advantage. The less you have to lose the slower it comes off. It's when you are really overweight that the weight comes off fast and in high amounts.

I do agree though, that having specifically stated that gastric bypass is against the rules, she shouldn't be eligible for the top prize.
