Here is a hilarious review of the book - Fifty Shades of Grey (NSFW = graphic warning.)

This critic also reviewed the two sequels. Personally, based on these reviews, I wouldn't waste my time on the books.

Thank you, Stormie! Just read all three reviews - the perfect comedy pick-me-up after a terrible week. The gifs were perfect.

Here's a discussion of the books I heard this week. It's far less comic and hateful, and being radio, you have to provide your own gifs in your head. Recommended.

I read the woman on the left holding the book in Zippyt's picture, was killed when she ran out into traffic rushing to a book signing.

Some mom brought her junkie-kid into the rehab, sat down to wait, and pulled either the second or third one out of her purse. The woman was in the target demographic (fifty-ish). All I could think was, "have you no shame, woman? If you are going to read that smut in public at least get a Kindle or Nook or something so that you are not displaying it!"

Now, there may be reasons to display in public, kind of like throwing out a baited line without a fish in sight ... but trust me, I know where the people in my lobby have been and you don't want to go there.

I'm surprised at you, Wolf.
As someone who has been criticised for reading children's fiction in public (pre-Rowling) or graphic novels (comics?!) I will read what I want where I want. Fashions in reading come and go, but if I want to read something I will.

I wouldn't read obvious porn in the staffroom, because I think working in a school carries its own obligations. But if I want to read something that contains sex scenes in a waiting room - even if it is poorly written and over-hyped - then that's my business.

I read Last Exit to Brooklyn on public transport.
What kind of display was I making?

Mum really liked SoG. Though she did start skipping the repetitive parts. But she was impressed with the story. It had more to it than she imagined it would. Apparently.

@ Sundae: I bought some Doctor/Master sorta slashfic off lulu. I'll email you the pdfs :p Jack's in it too. I'm not sure it is really slashfic, but it has a gay erotica style *grins*

I read the books, while on the treadmill at my physio rehab. Had all three done in 5 days. DON'T waste you time.
Basically, a young virgin meets a millionaire that has an abusive upbringing, and is into bondage. Its a story about him trying to get her to be his submissive, while she tries to show him what a real relationship is all about. In the end its a bit of both, with a fairly normal relationship.
The writing is beyond horrible! The author put so much time into describing the sex scenes, that the last 2 books felt very rushed to give you the non sex info.

Just think of it as boy meets girl, they fall in love, he's rich beyond measure.. they get married and have kids. Oh and a bit where another foster kid (millionaire was adopted as a child) tries to take all the millionaires coold things away from him, including his girl. There... you have the whole 3 books.
